IN RESPONSE to the growing demands for high performance and low-cost printing solutions, printer manufacturer Epson launched new products that provide the market with the lowest cost per page without compromising printing quality.

Epson Philippines Corp.'s top executives in the Southeast Asia presented its newest innovation, the L- and K-series of printing machine models, during a media launch at Robot Resto-Bar in Makati City on October 5.

Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos. They are made available in the market this month. "These amazing innovations presented today to Filipino customers are the results of thorough studies made on end-users’ preference and demands in the Southeast Asian Region," Eiji Ide, Epson South and Southeast Asia managing director, said during the launch.

These market studies, he said, showed that small and medium businesses are looking for high print quality at a very affordable cost. These new printers are designed to address such demands, giving focus on the specific needs of each market segment that the company has targeted to capture.

"These two new categories of printing solutions aim to reduce printing cost among large, small and medium businesses," said Ed Bonoan, senior general manager and sales division head of Epson Philippine.

He said Epson found a market niche, in which customers want quality prints, yet its costs won't drain their pockets. "End-users these days are becoming intelligent. If you have noticed during the presentations earlier, speakers have emphasized that these new printing solutions will cut printing costs, but will continue to produce high quality prints," Bonoan told Sun.Star Davao at the sidelines of the product launch.

With the introduction of the K-series in the industry, Bonoan is confident it would become a "superior alternative" to laser printers for customers who only need to print black and white documents.

The K-series models -- the K-100, a monochrome inkjet printer; the K-200, an all-in-one monochromer printer; and K-300, an all-in-one monochrome printer with automatic document feeder (ADF) -- are touted as the world's only mono-inkjet printers. Its prices range from P6,195 to P9,495.

Epson K series product manager Aimen Tan, in her presentation, said this new category of Epson printers offers the speed and text quality of a monochrome laser printer "with extremely low running cost of only P0.45 per page." This cost per page is up to 70 percent lower than the original toner used by laser printers of similar price.

"The K series also has many other useful features that are not found in laser printers in the same price range," she said. "We are confident that customers who give these new printers a try will be very surprised at their performance, while saving their running costs," Bonoan, for his part, said.

Epson also introduced to the market its K series products -- the L100, an inkjet printer; L200, an all-in-one printer; and L800, a photo printer. Its introductory prices range from P7,880 to P13,800.

The cost per page with an Epson L100 and L200, which have four ink colors, is only pegged at six centavos and 12 centavos, respectively. The printing cost with an L800, which is a specialized photo printer with six inks, is only P1.67 per 4R-size photo.

"The Epson L-series products are expected to create a unique category in the Philippines’s printing industry by combining low-cost ink tank printing with Epson quality and a warranty for genuine parts and labor. It is capable of providing super-high productivity and minimal ink change," said Noelle Gonzales, L-series product manager.

The Epson L-series printers also feature Fast-Ink-Top-Up technology that is made up of designed components, such as ink tanks, special ink tubes and choke valve for easy ink refilling and transportation.

The printers are ideal for home and office use, and even for small, medium and large businesses that need color prints. Epson also offers warranty for genuine parts. Epson is led by the Japan-based Seiko Epson Corp. The Epson Group of Companies comprises over 75,000 employees in 100 companies around the world.

Its presence in the Philippines was established in 1998. Epson Philippines now has a network of 77 authorized service centers nationwide with more than 60 dealers and more than 400 shops across the country.
