Xennia to launch high-speed Osiris textile printer

The new machine has been integrated into the Xennia portfolio following its parent company TenCate's acquisition of the insolvent Osiris Inkjet Systems in June. The Xennia Osiris, which has a print width of 1.6m, will be showcased for the first time at the forthcoming International Exhibition of Textile Machinery (ITMA) event in Barcelona next month.

Its system can print at up to 2,880sqm an hour and features up to eight colours, using process and or spot colours. Dr Tim Phillips, marketing manager at Xennia Technology said the Osiris offers the benefits of short-run, bespoke output that digital affords but also caters for longer runs thanks to its high-volume throughput speeds.

"The production speed coupled with high output quality makes the Osiris suitable for at least 80 to 90% of textile printing applications on the market, which makes it comparable to rotary screen in that respect," he said.

The machine, which offers production speeds ranging from 18 to 30m per minute, features a built-in hot air drying unit and coverage up to 33g/m2. Dr Alfons Wegdam, head of textiles at Xennia, said the Osiris was "one of the highest-speed inkjet printing systems in the world".

"Based on our experience and understanding of inkjet technology and the different processes and materials needed in textile applications, we offer our customers the ability to select a digital solution from our range that meets their productivity, cost and image quality requirements," added Wegdam. Xennia will showcase the Osiris and other machines at ITMA in Hall 7 on stand A126 from 22-29 September. Phillips said the company will be actively looking to sell the machine into the UK market and anticipates a beta participant in the coming months.
