Freshly released, the new Epson Stylus Pro 7890 and Epson Stylus Pro 9890 large format printers come integrated with the company’s proprietary Micro Piezo Thin Film Piezo (TFP) print heads. They also incorporate the eight-color Epson UltraChrome K3 ink with vivid magenta which is responsible for delivering good quality prints at a high speed.

These printers are two times faster than their predecessor models, the Epson Stylus Pro 7880 and 9880. They feature auto-switching of matte black and photo black ink according to the type of media chosen. This helps to save time as well as reduce ink and media wastage. Owing to the re-engineered Micro Piezo TFP print heads, the printers can handle eight ink channels at the same time with 360 nozzles for each color. These print heads produce variable-sized droplets as tiny as 3.5 picoliter and maximum print resolution of 2,880 x 1,440 dots-per-inch, providing users with accurate and high quality prints.
Samba Moorthy, Division Head – Sales & Marketing commented, “The Epson Stylus Pro 7890 and 9890 are class-leading graphic art printers which offer photo enthusiasts and proofing industries outstanding performance in speed and quality which rival high-end competing large format printers with the great affordability they provide.”
Another feature of these devices is the Epson Spectroproofer. This is an optional in-line color measuring system, which when installed in the printers can perform color calibration automatically and thus facilitate professional color management workflows. It is integrated with the X-rite technology which enables exact printer-to-printer color matching along with advanced measurement and certification. Operators don’t have to be technically trained since the color management workflows are automated. Hence, the printers enable better color accuracy, lower costs and faster speeds.
The UltraChrome K3 ink with vivid magenta functionality of these printers claims to offer smoother tonal gradations, color stability and long term lightfastness. They also provide for accurate color control with neutral black and white, high gloss levels, water-resistant prints and reduced graininess in skin tone areas.
The Epson Stylus Pro 7890 comes at a price of Rs. 1, 99,999 while the Epson Stylus Pro 9890 has a price tag of Rs. 3, 29,999 attached to it. They are available at all major retail stores across India.
