HP's ePrint printers now support Google’s Cloud Print, according to media reports. Cloud Print lets users print from mobile versions of Google (News  - Alert) applications, such as Gmail. Previously, Cloud Print worked with printers that were connected to a personal computer that ran the Chrome Web browser.

"Making it easy for our customers to print where and how they want is a top priority for HP," Stephen Nigro, senior vice president, Imaging and Printing Group, HP, said in a company press release. "With HP ePrint and cloud-aware printers, you get the best experience printing via Google Cloud Print.

"Users are rapidly migrating to web and mobile apps, and Google Cloud Print brings full-featured printing capabilities to these apps," Mike Jazayeri, director of product management for Google, added in the press release. "We are excited that HP has brought the first-generation of cloud-ready printers to market. While cloud printing is possible with any printer that is connected to a PC, users can achieve a more streamlined, friendly experience by printing directly to a cloud-ready printer."

Abhijit Kalamkar, a Google software engineer, said in a Google Chrome blog post that users will soon print an e-mail from a Chrome notebook on a train then get the printout in their office. Also, boarding passes can be printed from a smartphone to a home printer.

In 2010, Google introduced Cloud Print to let users print from any device, OS, or browser to any printer – without drivers or PC connections, according to the blog post. All of HP’s ePrint-enabled printers are Google Cloud Print ready, according to media reports. More applications will soon be available. HP's ePrint printers work with Cloud Print; Apple's (News - Alert) AirPrint; and HP's ePrint, according to a report from Business Insider.

TMCnet reported in January that a beta version of Google Cloud Print was announced on the Google Mobile blog. The version was in development and will allow printing for documents from smartphones, as well as Gmail, TMCnet said. The feature was offered to users in the United States and users need a device that supports HTML5,Android ( News - Alert) 2,1+ or iOS3+, TMCnet said.
